How Games Work

When the site launches in June 2012, there will be three initial game types available for the general public. We will be constantly adding more games and contests in the coming months to ensure that the site maintains that “carnival” feel. Below are brief descriptions of the three initial games that will be made available:

Reveal Auction
A reveal auction means that an item has a “predetermined bid position” that, once reached, will be won automatically by that bidder.

Reveal Auction bids cost a specific number of bids, which upon bidding, will reveal your current bidding position. Your bidding position is hidden from other bidders and is calculated with each bid placed. The first bid will have a value of 1 and each bid thereafter will increase the value by 1. There is no limit to the number of bids allowed for a bidder in a reveal auction.

If the bidding position has not been reached before time expires, the item will automatically be relisted and any bids placed will be returned to the bidder’s account.

Silent Auction
Silent auctions mean that the highest bidder will win an item when time expires.

Each bid will cost a certain number of credits which will allow a bidder to submit their bid amount. Each bidder is entitled to one bid amount per auction, but can change their mind and re-bid for the cost of the same bid. This means that a bidder only has to bid a single time to potentially win the product. If they re-think their bid and wish to change their bid amount, they can easily do so.

In some cases, a reserve may be set for an item. If an item has a reserve, it will be clearly marked on the auction details page for the item. In these cases, if the reserve has not been met before time expires, the item will automatically be relisted and any bids placed will be returned to the bidder’s account.

Group Auction
A group auction means that an item has a “predetermined quantity of bids” that, once reached, will be won by all bidders that bid on that item.

Group Auction bids cost a specific number of bids, which upon bidding, will increase the quantity of bids. The first bid will have a value of 1 and each bid thereafter will increase the value by 1. There is no limit to the number of bids allowed for a bidder in a group auction. However, there may be a maximum per person limit on the item.

If the quantity of bids has not been reached before time expires, the item will automatically be relisted and any bids placed will be returned to the bidder’s account.
